Die Nacktschneckengesellschaften in NW-Deutschland (Gastropoda: Milacidae, Boettgerillidae, Limacidae, Agriolimacidae, Arionidae): ein Ergebnis der NRW-Kartierung Naturalis
Kappes, H.; Kobialka, H..
Slug assemblages in NW Germany (Gastropoda: Milacidae, Boettgerillidae, Limacidae, Agriolimacidae, Arionidae): a result of the mapping survey of Northrhine-Westphalia. This survey provides information on inter-specific associations of slugs on a regional data base. Most of the data originate from the last ten years. In total, 25 slug species are known from the federal state Northrhine-Westphalia, Germany. A rough classification using two character species resulted in three groups. These groups correspond to habitat preferences, i.e. species that are regularly found together with Arion rufus usually occur in close-canopy forests and mid-successional stages, species that are regularly found together with Arion lusitanicus prefer open habitats to...

Potential use of marinas as nursery grounds by rocky fishes: insights from four Diplodus species in the Mediterranean ArchiMer
Bouchoucha, Marc; Darnaude, A. M.; Gudefin, A.; Neveu, R.; Verdoit-jarraya, M.; Boissery, P.; Lenfant, P..
The construction of marinas along the shoreline has caused substantial habitat destruction within the sheltered coastal areas previously used as nursery grounds by many fish species. However, although the negative ecological impacts of these constructions have been reported extensively, their potential roles in the functioning of the coastal zone remain largely unknown. Here, we surveyed the juveniles of 4 Diplodus species in 5 marinas located along the French Mediterranean coast to assess whether rocky fishes can successfully settle inside these artificialized coastal areas. Inter-specific differences in the spatiotemporal use of the various artificial habitats provided by marinas were investigated between April and August over 2 consecutive years. We...

Turtles of the Tiputini Biodiversity Station with remarks on the diversity and distribution of the Testudines from Ecuador Biota Neotropica
Cisneros-Heredia,Diego F..
Ten species of Testudines, from four different families: Chelidae, Kinosternidae, Podocnemididae, and Testudinidae, are reported from the Tiputini Biodiversity Station (Universidad San Francisco de Quito), northeastern Amazonian Ecuador; including the second report from Ecuador of Batrachemys heliostemma. These ten species are sympatric but not completely syntopic, thus I comment on their diversity and habitat preferences patterns. The general distribution of some turtles from Amazonian Ecuador is discussed, providing additional records and distribution maps for Chelus fimbriatus, Platemys platycephala, Batrachemys heliostemma, Batrachemys raniceps, Mesoclemmys gibba, Phrynops geoffroanus, Kinosternon scorpioides, and Geochelone denticulata. The presence...

Variação geográfica no período de nidificação do jacaré-paguá, Paleosuchus palpebrosus, no Brasil. Infoteca-e
CAMPOS, Z.; SANAIOTTI, T.; MAGNUSSON, W..

Naturalis
Kobialka, H.; Kappes, H..
Based on the new taxonomic findings on the Arion subfuscus complex, we present data from the mapping survey of Northrhine-Westphalia, mainly originating from between the year 2000 and 18.11.2007 (closing date of this study). Both species show a considerable variability of the color pattern that was photographically documented. The results of our study were ascertained by anatomical determination, that for some individuals was confirmed using molecular methods. The distribution maps are based on 472 records of Arion fuscus and 191 records of Arion subfuscus. Both species were found in Northrhine-Westphalia, as well as in Lower Saxony, Hassiaca and Rhineland-Palatinate. The habitat preferences of Arion fuscus and Arion subfuscus significantly differ: Arion...
